Tonga may be the smallest Kingdom in the world but that has never stopped it from making waves on the international stage.

Tonga High School was awarded the highly esteemed Zayed Future Energy Prize at a beautiful ceremony at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on the evening of 20 January 2014. 

This prestigious honour was awarded in photo by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to ‘Ailini Teumohenga who captured the hearts of the crowd with her humility and grace in her Tonga High School uniform and sandals. 

Tonga’s Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Lord Tu’ivakano seated next to His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, stated: “This is a proud moment for the Kingdom of Tonga, Tonga High School, and the Pacific as a whole.”

Tonga High School won the Global High School Category. It made the finals with Australia. 

The Zayed Future Energy Prize is an annual award to celebrate achievements that reflect impact, innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability. This award comes with a cash prize to the school.
